Have a question? See below. If your question isn’t answered, feel free to contact us.
- Where did the name “Baffle Gab” come from?
A friend’s dad used to use this phrase and it fit the game perfectly!
- Where can I buy it?
You can buy Baffle Gab right here on our Web page! Can’t wait? Call or write us to find a retailer near you.
- How do you play the game?
For a brief overview of the rules of play, click here.
- How many people can play?
Baffle Gab™ can be played as a solitaire game with only 1 player or with as many as players as you’d like. Gabby recommends 2 or more players because it's just more FUN to play with friends. How many friends you play with is up to you. We've played the game with as many as 35 players at one sitting. At school assemblies we've had as many as 300 people play the game simultaneously. (Teachers click here for information on how to do this. For more on the variety of ways Baffle Gab™ can be adapted to your needs, please use our contact form. We'll walk you through any of several possible playing processes to help you find the one that best serves your players’ needs. It's easy.)
- Can you use a run-on sentence?
It’s true that we say COMPLETE sentences in the game rules rather than saying GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT sentences. It is Gabby's intention and greatest hope that players' sentences be grammatically correct rather than run on sentences.
- Who decides if a challenge sticks?
After every 1-minute round, any player can challenge another player on the use of a Baffle Gab™ word or whether or not the sentence a player has written makes sense. All players are then free to look at the definition on the back of the card in question and discuss whether or not the word has been used correctly. If that does not clear things up, we encourage players to look in a dictionary for the full definition of the card word. Where there is still disagreement (for instance on whether or not the sentence makes sense or whether or not it's grammatically correct) take a vote and allow the majority to rule.
- What happens if a word is used incorrectly?
Nothing unless another player challenges your use and it is found to be incorrect. If that happens, you lose only the point for the misused word. No other points are taken away from the sentence's total use of card words - unless there are other words challenged and found to be used incorrectly. Gabby loves grammatically correct uses of words!
- Where did “Gabby” come from?
Gabby was inspired by our real life pet dog. While we were playing word games, Gabby would wag his tail wildly.
